Journal Reflection
As a nursing student in a clinical setting, I would devote myself to understanding health information as one of the strategies for promoting evidence-based practice. This strategy will enable me to evaluate the similarities, differences, and reasons why both are important. Besides, evaluation of the data will enable me to contemplate the sufficiency of the existing data. Examining my resources is another strategy that I would use. Since each organization has a variety of information, it will require the modification of certain evidence-based practices to enable me to use the available resources. I will establish goals that are patient-centered as another strategy for promoting informed healthcare practices. This approach will aid in improving the patients’ outcomes and wellbeing.
Discussion
Evidence-based practice is determined by the clinical importance of research, time limitations, information on research language, support available to develop the framework, confidence in the practice, and competence in locating and analyzing research reports. This practice is required during infection control to enable the nursing personnel to implement the required precautions, such as maintaining hygiene and observing safety rules in the healthcare environment, among others. Besides, evidence-based practice is crucial when noting blood pressure among children because it uses different techniques from those applied in adult examinations (Dang & Dearholt, 2017). Lastly, an evidence-based approach is useful when deciding to administer oxygen to patients with the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to avert organ failure and hypoxia, apart from improving the quality of patients’ lives.
In the nursing practice, the evidence-based practice offers scientific research to nurses to aid in making informed decisions. Moreover, nurses remain updated on the changing medical procedures in inpatient care. According to Dang & Dearholt, 2017, evidence-based practice assists caregivers to analyze research to comprehend the dangers or usefulness of diagnostic tests and treatments. The framework enables nurses to implement an inclusive plan of healthcare for better patient outcomes.
