Creative Works Environments Model: Transport Industry

Summary

The transport industry is among the giant business sectors in the world necessary for every individual. Since the 19th century, the industry has undergone many modifications to provide quality services to all customers who use different types of transport models (Naor et al., 2018). Road transport is the largest transportation mode used by many passengers in the world. Railway, airline, and water transport can be used for a wide range of purposes, including transportation of goods. However, the importation and exportation of different items depending on all transport modes to reach the product user. The transport industry has remained the largest business sector that boosts government revenues worldwide.

Organizational Impediments to Innovation in The Transport Sector

Innovation in the transport industry entails emerging technological advancements that ensure fast access to services in the industry. The major obstacle to organizational innovation is the lack of financial resources to allocate towards innovation projects since they are very expensive. Insufficient knowledge of different transportation companies has hindered innovation in the industry (Naor et al., 2018). Most organizations declining their role in innovation has hindered the diversification of innovation in the transport industry. The lack of cooperation among transport technological researchers leads to the failure of different transport innovation projects, which has lowered the morale of allocating more financial investments towards innovation.

Challenging Work

The challenging work perspective describes the strongest desire and efforts required in performing a delegated duty. Challenging work has been described in the marketing department; whereby continuous restructuring of objectives occurs to increase sales volume (Mumford & Fichtel, 2020). The transport industry requires a challenging work strategy towards weighing different opinions to determine effective innovation projects that fit the transport sector. However, innovation in the transport industry is a more challenging task that requires effort and commitment to ensure technological advancements.

Organizational Encouragement

Adapting innovation projects requires motivation among organizational members serving in different transport companies. Most transport agencies fear losing finances towards adapting to technological advancements since it is difficult for workers to practice and adapt to technological developments. Motivating the members of organizational transport agencies will promote the innovation process based on increasing members’ willingness to learn and adapt to the innovation process (Mumford & Fichtel, 2020). Therefore, organizational encouragement is more crucial in supporting the innovation process in the transport sector.

Supervisory Encouragement

Supervisory encouragement involves the process of identifying mistakes and weaknesses by different team leaders or supervisors as they accept them and seek to correct the mistakes without punishing anybody. The perspective is important for enhancing innovation in the transport industry. In most cases, innovation plans fail to work out because individuals blame each other for mistakes in the innovation process (Mumford & Fichtel, 2020). Supervisory encouragement will assist in reducing mistakes that can hinder the whole innovation project from success. The perspective also acts as a motivator for the organizational members involved.

Work Group Encouragement

The delegated process of employees working together to achieve different goals and objectives accompanied by encouragement from management is described as group work encouragement. It has worked as the most effective strategy in most business sectors. The model can work more efficiently in the transport industry to promote technological advancement since innovation projects require teamwork and management support (Mumford & Fichtel, 2020). When innovation programs are enhanced in transport industry organizations, teamwork is the best model required to achieve successful innovation plans since working together as a group creates teamwork.

Freedom

The process of allowing employees to exercise their duties without restrictions and guidance from management but they accountable for their actions that may affect business operations is described as the freedom model (Mumford & Fichtel, 2020). The innovation process in the transport sector does require strict control systems, but freedom is also crucial to enable organizational members to adapt to new technological advancements. Controlled supervision hinders innovation implementation strategies since more time and freedom are required. Therefore, effective development and practice of innovation strategies in the transport industry require the freedom model.

Importance of Properly Managing Change Within Transport Industry

The dynamic changes that affect the transport industry involve demand and supply. Since the industry is dependent on the capacity and volume of the transported goods, including people mobility, there is a need to develop management change systems (Karaxha, 2019). However, managing change is important towards protecting the occurrence of immense losses that will affect the industry’s financial stability. Internal and external risks are evaluated and insured in different insurance companies through a management change. The process ensures easy prediction and evaluation of all resources required when changes are made by internal management and external forces affecting the transport industry. The change management approach is crucial to the field of transportation since it is subjected to numerous changes that affect its operations.

Description of How Resistance to Change is Managed Within the Transport Industry

Resistance to change is common in the transport industry since opposition and various suggestions from antagonists operating from different departments will hinder the change process. However, the transport industry manages change by ensuring effective communication channels that deliver information to all members of a specific transport agency concerning deliberately planned changes (Karaxha, 2019). Collaboration and involvement of all stakeholders in decision-making concerning change assist in reducing opposition to dynamic changes. Managing resistance in the transport industry is crucial to ensure effective performance. In most cases where resistance to change occurs, collaboration and detailed discussion strategies have worked out to be effective in overcoming resistance actions. However, using force and punishment that entails firing involved employees resisting change has failed to eliminate the issue in the transport sector.
