Women’s Place in the 19th Century: Social Rights, Working Positions, and Prospects

In the 19th century, women’s rights were violated, and their social positions were diminished. They were victims of constant oppression by men who considered themselves kings and saviors of the world. Back then, females had to correspond to societal labels so as not to be expelled. Suffering from the harsh realities that had beaten them severely, they managed to defy men who had given them second-class treatment. Women’s place in the 19 century is a much-spoken issue nowadays. There are a lot of artworks centered around this topic as they want to unravel significant twists of why several prejudices and misconceptions seized females.

If to tap into information repositories highlighting this period, it is seen that women stood up against several struggles faced on their life paths. They have undergone a vast expanse of procedures to win trust on men’s behalf to occupy positions in political arenas and communicate directly to the public in order to be heard out and respected (Carvalho 125). In the old times, women were to be occupied with household chores only as they did not have the right to express their voices and concerns in public. In case they managed to fit in at some work, they could not be free and were rocked by strict requirements that were challenging to accomplish. Even female writers could not project themselves as they had to express fanfares to men’s dignities and awards. For this very reason, the question mentioned above is of current interest, as the representatives of the feminist tendency are still struggling for their public rights.
