Aspects of Postbiotics and Avocados

Today, there is a variety of healthy food options available to those people who wish to maintain a balanced diet. Moreover, scientists are constantly discovering new ways in which individuals can change their food choices to enhance their well-being. For instance, one of the most notable examples of phenomena that will impact the food industry shortly is postbiotics. The term stands for metabolic byproducts of live bacteria, which have been found to possess beneficial nutritional properties. According to research, various types of postbiotics demonstrated several positive effects, including a decrease in blood pressure, defense against inflammation and pathogens, as well as overall improvement of the immune system (Aguilar-Toalá, 2018). Postbiotics are not rare, and they can be found in various foods which are readily available in stores, such as sourdough bread, sauerkraut, and kimchi. It is possible to expect postbiotics to become a new trend in the coming years as more data on the benefits of using them in diets emerge.

My food preferences are quite diverse, and usually, I try to eat different meals, yet avocados are among those products which are always present on my weekly menu. A hundred grams of a raw avocado contains one hundred sixty calories, fifteen grams of fat, nine grams of carbohydrates, and only two grams of protein. Due to high caloric content, one can easily overeat avocados which will entail a weight gain. Moreover, even though the majority of avocado’s fat is the “healthy” monounsaturated one, it contains three grams of the saturated type, which can cause diabetes and heart disease (Strong, 2020). Nevertheless, avocadoes also possess numerous properties which contribute to people’s well-being and are generally necessary for a balanced diet. Avocadoes contain a lot of fiber and different vitamins, including K and B, which are invaluable for the proper functioning of organs. Thus, avocados can be a viable source of essential nutrients, but they should be consumed in moderation.
